After allegations arose regarding the winning couple of the figure skating competition, both the US team (Jamie Sale and David Pelletier) and Russia (Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze) were awarded gold medals.  It is still debated today whether or not the competition had been fixed.
