Prior to suffering from a stroke and dying, a priest said to the comic actor, “May the Lord have mercy on your soul.” In which Chaplin responded, “Why not? After all, it belongs to him.” Interestingly enough, his body was later dug up, stolen and held for ransom by two immigrants.
